1st October 2010
11th August 2008 Our foaling season was a success but now a distant memory. The maiden mares have all taken extremely well to their new careers and the weaning process is now underway. Horizon Bloodstock bought two new broodmares from the Tattersalls July sale and they are as follows: Welsh Cake (GB), half sister to Trans Island and Welsh Diva. She is by Fantastic Light (USA), out of Khubza (GB) and is in foal to Sakhee (USA). Aberavon (GB), own sister to Tarjman. She is by Cadeaux Genereux, out of Dodo (IRE) and is in foal to Singspiel (IRE). Both of these pedigrees can be viewed on the Bloodstock pages. Sales preparation is now in full swing for most of our yearlings, the first five will be dispatched to Doncaster for the St. Leger sale in the middle of August. Their photographs and pedigrees can be viewed on the Sales pages.
28th February 2008 In the past week we have welcomed five more foals, three being out of Foursome Thoroughrbed's increasing broodmare band. Foursome's maiden Saddlers Wells mare, Special Moment, who is from the family of Lady Carla, foaled a bay filly by Danehill Dancer and is being bred back to Dubai Destination this year. Foursome's other maiden mare Rhapsodize, who is from the family of Champion mare Danehurst, foaled a filly by the first season sire, Iceman, and the filly's good looks and conformation, bode well for our two remaining unborn Iceman foals. Our new owner, Miss Pinar Araci has had her first taste of becoming a breeder, as her mare Nimble Fantasy, who she purchased at last year's December Sales, produced a cracking colt by Sharmadal. Nimble Fantasy is travelling to Ireland this season to visit Bahri and will be joining six other Heatherwold mares over there, visiting the likes of Acclamation, Clodovil and Cape Cross. Photos of all the foals and yearlings can be found on our Bloodstock pages. Each year we welcome new owners and we are more than happy to take mares to foal. If you would like Heatherwold to board or foal your mares, please do not hesitate to contact our friendly team.
13th February 2008 We are happy to announce the arrival of our first two foals for 2008. On the 30th January, Past n Present, an unraced daughter of Listed placed Amal, produced her second foal, a filly by Compton Place. Past n Present is visiting Iceman this season and has a yearling filly by our resident stallion, Almaty, winner of the Group 3 Molecomb Stakes and the Curragh Stakes. Foursome Thoroughbred's maiden mare, Moon Empress, foaled a colt by Tiger Hill last night and is being bred back to Acclamation this year. A winner for her owners, she is from the family of the french Group 3 winners DIamond Dancer and Diamond Green.
30th October 2007 After a couple of frantic months, our yearling sales season has now come to an end. We have been very pleased with how the horses sold this year, with the vast majority going to UK trainers or agents. Horizon's pinhooked bunch did well, with the best return being the Clodovil colt out of Desert Bride. He was purchased at Tattersalls December Sale for a mere 17,000 Gns and sold to Badger Bloodstock for 50,000 Gns. LIkewise, the Marju x Night Owl colt yielded a good return on his 40,000 Gns price tag, when selling for 65,000 Gns to Peter Doyle Bloodstock. Next year we aim to have a larger consignment. Together with any foals purchased this December by Horizon Bloodstock to pinhook, five of our resident mares will also have their first yearlings to offer. We are now looking ahead to the December sales, for which we have two in foal mares and two foals on offer. Pedigrees and details of these can be found on our forthcoming sales pages. 7th October 2007 City of Tribes finished off his three year old campaign with a second in the Listed Abergwaunt Stakes at Tipperary. This was a thrid black type placing for the Invinsible Spirit colt who was pinhooked by Horizon Bloodstock. Racing on a softer surface than he prefers, he put up a good performance to finish second to Senor Benny, himself a useful black type performer. Hopefully he will stay in training next year and add to the list of Horizon pinhooks to follow for 2008. 14th September 2007 We are happy to report that our 2007 yearling sales season has started well, with all four of our lots offered at both the Doncaster St Ledger sales finding new homes. The Celtic Swing colt, pinhooked by Horizon Bloodstock was sold for 25,000 Gns to William Muir and is a real classy individual. Horizon’s homebred colts were also bought by trainers, with the Bertolini x Chance For Romance colt going to Ireland to Andy Oliver and Naomi Wildman’s Reset colt, destined for Rod Millman’s Devonshire yard. We are also delighted for our new owner, Mrs Emma Hunter on the successful sale of her homebred Tagula colt, out of Marliana, who sold for 27,000 and is to be trained by Jamie Osborne. Marliana produced a precocious Compton Place colt with us here this spring and with her two time winning daughter Marmite, Marliana is proving to be an enjoyable broodmare for Emma. Sales preparation is now in full swing for the rest of this year’s yearling consignments and so far they have all taken to their new routine without a fuss. The majority of the foals are now weaned have coped well, and all in all, the stud is thriving at this busy time of year. 9th August 2007 Two four year old fillies from William Muir’s stable have retired to the paddocks today, and join our broodmare band which has now grown to seventeen. The first, owned by Horizon Bloodstock, is Xaluna Bay, a Xaar filly from the family of Luna Wells and Linamix. A winner like Xaluna Bay, Moon Empress, owned by Foursome Thoroughbreds, is by Rainbow Quest and cost over 100,000 guineas as a yearling. She also has plenty of black type on her page and we are very excited to see how they both fare in their new careers. 4th August 2007 Al Muheer (2005 Diktat x Dominion Rose) has become the second winner for his dam from two runners, winning over 8 furlongs at Lingfield. He will now be very highly rated in nurseries and it has been suggested that he will return to the track in either pattern or condition races. He was bred at Heatherwold by Foursome Thoroughbreds and has a very nice half sister by Daylami entered in the Tattersalls October Sale. 16th June 2007 31st May 2007 26th May 2007 24th May 2007 11th May 2007 28th April 2007 |
